I would like to cordially invite you to a super fun event taking place soon. The presentation of my latest work: La Fête Galante 17, 2026, at De Jukebox, De Pels in Amsterdam.
 
Date: Sunday, September 6 to Saturday, October 4, 2026.
Time: 5:00 PM.
Location: De Jukebox at De Pels, Huidenstraat 25, 1016 ER Amsterdam (Nine Streets District).
 
When I think of a jukebox, I think of music, and a selection from Claude Debussy’s song cycle Fêtes Galantes set to poems by Paul Verlaine might seem obvious. Christian Pessing [*], a befriended artist, was thinking more of “Solar Music” by the German rock band Grobschnitt [**].
 
He shared the following thought regarding the drawing La Fête Galante 16, which stood at the source of the work exhibited here:
A party where everyone is playing at once.
 
My mind went straight to Grobschnitt. That specific way they had of building sound collages, not one thing, but many things running simultaneously that somehow cohere into a kind of organized chaos. The pink figure with her instrument in the middle of all this visual noise felt like the one musician in a room where the room itself is also playing.
 
So I started pulling the image apart mentally, piece by piece, and then tried to reassemble it from the inside out. Which is maybe exactly what a Fête Galante is.
Everyone performing, no one quite in charge, the whole occasion held together by the music.
